Heavy rainfall in Kukës, risk of rockfall on some roads

High intensity rainfall has covered the entire territory of the Kukës Region. As a result, in some segments of national road axes, there is a risk of falling rocks and inert materials.

The most severe situation, according to the Kukës Prefecture, has been observed on the national road axes of the Tropoja Municipality, specifically on the Bajram Curri–Valbonë road, where rockfalls and water flooding have been recorded in some of its segments.

Teams of contracting entities have been on the ground at all times, intervening to clean and maintain the road, especially in the most problematic segments of the Bajram Curri–Valbonë axis.

Currently, traffic on this road axis, as well as on all other national road axes in the Kukës Region, is developing normally. According to reports from the municipalities of Kukës, Has and Tropojë, there are no emergency situations or additional problems. The electricity supply in the Kukës Region is almost complete, with the exception of 16 subscribers in the Administrative Unit of Tropojë e Vjetër, Municipality of Tropojë.

The Kukës Prefecture announces that the responsible structures continue to be in constant monitoring of the situation and are ready to intervene immediately in the event of deterioration of conditions or the emergence of new problems, in cooperation with the civil emergencies of the three municipalities in the region.
