Rama warns of fees for foreign tourists receiving medical services in Albania

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that it has been advised to build a private hospital within state hospitals in the country, in order to help doctors financially.

" We have very good doctors, let them say what they want, but I have found this out in conversations with quite a few foreigners who have had joint practices. We have very good doctors and nurses. Our problem is management, because we do not have the tradition ," Rama said during a visit to the Lezha Regional Hospital.

"Discussing with a couple of very large groups to enter into management relationships, both independently of each other, they say that it is key to build within the hospital, a private hospital, for the hospital's doctors. And to be part of the hospital's doctors' work system, in order to give them the opportunity to have the hospital as a place where they are co-owners and have an income capacity that varies based on performance."

" The second plus is that we definitely need to start imposing fees for tourists ," the prime minister added.
