Residents affected by the fire that engulfed a building in the area near Pharmacy No. 10 in Tirana will be supported with a rental bonus until they return to their fully repaired apartments.
"Yes, residents affected by the fire in their apartments will be supported with rental bonuses, until they return soon to the building 100% repaired by the builder," writes Prime Minister Edi Rama this Saturday morning.
In fact, a day ago, the General Director of Civil Emergencies at the Municipality of Tirana, Dritan Dango, said that the bonus will be given for a period of 6 months to 1 year, as the current accommodation conditions are not suitable for long-term stays.
Authorities are preparing legal changes so that the decision on the bonus can be approved within a month by the Tirana Municipal Council.
This was communicated to residents yesterday by Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu, who emphasized that in parallel, investigations are continuing into those potentially responsible and a group of experts is evaluating measures to avoid the recurrence of such events.
In parallel, authorities are working to enable the reconstruction of the damaged building as soon as possible.
The fire that engulfed the building completely destroyed 30 apartments and caused 8 people to be hospitalized from asphyxiation.
The builder has stated that it does not bear legal responsibility for the incident, but has undertaken to rebuild the damaged apartments. Prime Minister Rama had previously confirmed that the building will be completely rebuilt and that, according to preliminary data, the fire is not related to the quality of construction.
