Why does Albania have the lowest salaries in the region in IT, education,

The economic model in Albania can ensure growth and generate money, but it has failed to create well-being. Why today Albania has the lowest salaries in the region in all sectors. In Serbia, IT professionals are paid an average of 3 thousand euros per month. In North Macedonia, subsidies and support to farmers are enabling wages of 600 euros per month in agriculture.

In Montenegro, hotels, bars and restaurants pay an average salary of 800 euros. As the market is exerting pressure on wages, the long-term solution remains only in the correction of the economy.

When the country plunged into crisis as a result of pandemic restrictions in early 2020, international institutions predicted a deep decline in the economy by 7-9%. The reality was different, as the drop was only 3.5%, the second lowest in the region, after Serbia.

The recovery was also quick, indicating a high resilience of the domestic economy. In 2021, growth was 8.5%, second in the region after Montenegro, which followed a contraction of 15.3%.

But, the reality is showing that this economic growth is not able to produce well-being. In the last three years, wages in the countries of the region have grown at a much faster rate than in Albania, widening the gap between the income received by an employee in Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia-Herzegovina, compared to an Albanian.
