Two parents from Albania "abandoned" their 17-year-old child in Italy in order to shelter him. In Italy, unaccompanied minors receive support from the state, and in this case, the Albanians staged the abandonment of their son in Pisa, Italy.

But their plan was apparently caught by the Italian authorities. According to  local media , the 17-year-old presented himself to the police and told the carabinieri that he had no relatives to take care of him and that he had come to Italy alone.

As soon as the case became public, the authorities were set in motion to follow all the procedures that the law provides, such as assigning a social structure, providing housing, support for education and granting a residence permit. The authorities in Italy launched an investigation into the case and found that in fact the 17-year-old had arrived in Pisa two days ago on a flight from Albania, but the passenger list included a couple with the same last name, who were the boy's parents.

The plane ticket was also bought online by a compatriot from the province of La Spezia. The police investigated the case further to avoid unnecessary costs in public facilities and to host a foreign minor who did not actually have unaccompanied status.

After the investigations, a nationwide alert was issued which made it possible to find the parents of the 17-year-old, who were blocked at the exit of the Italian territory from Bari.
