The State Police has reacted regarding the detention of Amant Josif by the authorities in Dubai.

According to the Police, Josifi was detained as part of the international coded operation "FRIDA-REFOX", and is wanted by the Spanish authorities.

Josifi, who previously also held the position of advisor to former minister Olta Xhaçka, is accused of being part of a group that defrauded European citizens with crypto-currency pyramid schemes, stealing a staggering total of 2.4 billion euros.

To dismantle this group, dozens of Spanish police officers and cybercrime experts landed in Albania a short time ago.

Reaction of the State Police:

Clarification of the State Police, regarding the arrest in Dubai, of the citizen AJ, announced as an international wanted within the international police mega-operation coded "FRIDA-REFOX".

Following the investigation, tracking and research work, for the capture of the citizens declared wanted in the framework of the joint investigation between the Albanian and Spanish police authorities, the citizen declared international wanted AJ was captured in Dubai, on behalf of the Spanish authorities

This citizen was declared internationally wanted, after the Court of First Instance of La Seu de Urgell, Spain, with decision no. 2, dated 03.11.2022, assigned the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Fraud with aggravating circumstances", "Cybercrime", "Pyramid scheme" and "Criminal organization", provided by the Criminal Code Spanish.
