Daut Laze continues to be wanted by the police after he escaped from Shënkoll prison.

Top Channel has published the court's decision on the 48-year-old's sentence.

According to the Psychiatric-Forensic Expertise Act, it has resulted that: Citizen Daut Laze suffers from a mental illness and specifically from an unspecified psychopathic disorder, paranoid type, an illness that began a long time ago. He suffers from a chronic disorder that presents itself in different forms and progressions, but which requires treatment and regular follow-up in Psychiatry.

Citizen Daut Laze was under the influence of illness before, during and after the commission of the criminal offense, in a trial led by paranoid delusions, being unable to properly understand and control his actions, without realizing that he was committing a criminal offense or the consequences that stem from it.

According to information, people undergoing medical treatment are treated under Law 44/12 and not under the law that treats detainees and convicts, and as a result, security elements have been at low levels.

According to the official announcement, on February 4, 2025, in the early hours of the morning, during the change of shifts and the conduct of the appeal at the Lezha Prison, the absence of patient Daut Hysen Laze, born on August 30, 1976 in Çorovodë and residing in Tirana, was noted.

He was arrested on November 16, 2021. With decision no. 528, act dated November 4, 2024, the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana imposed on him the medical measure "Compulsory treatment in a medical institution", according to Article 46 of the Criminal Code.

After an immediate check by police staff at the institution, it was observed that this citizen undergoing compulsory treatment had used the available spaces within the parameters of the special medical institution to leave the institution's perimeter.

Currently, camera footage is being analyzed to shed light on the full dynamics of the event.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has been notified of the incident and intensive work is being done in cooperation with police structures to capture him./Top Channel
