The assailant Erjon Goxhara, who injured the ERE engineer in the area of ​​Paris Municipality in Tirana, is still being sought. The police have made available a 10,000 euro reward for anyone who provides information that could lead to the capture of the officer. The injured is Lorenc Kosta, originally from Berat and living in the capital, an employee at the Energy Regulatory Authority (ERE). 

Two charges have been brought against the officer in the Border Directorate in Laprakë, "Premeditated murder", pending and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition". The Blues of Tirana are still not clear with what weapon the policeman shot, with the service one, or another weapon that he had in use without permission. The suspect is suspected of hiding on the outskirts of Tirana, in the Dajti area, where the search is also focused. Meanwhile, the director of the Tirana Police, Tonin Vocaj, called on him to surrender.

Event dynamics

The event happened around 14:00 on August 19, 2024. The 46-year-old officer acted coldly to injure Lorenc Kosta.

The police officially said that the wounding happened for 'weak motives', but sources for Report Tv said that there are doubts that the 45-year-old man had an extramarital affair with the officer's wife, however this track is not confirmed.

Lorenc Kosta was walking near the 'Kika2' complex, while the police officer was driving. The officer stopped and shot him, leaving him injured. After that, he took a picture of the injured man, who was lying on the pavement and covered in blood.

After the serious incident, Goxhara left with his vehicle in the direction of his apartment, took a bag with him and immediately left. It is suspected that he left towards Dajti, where the police searches are concentrated.

6 cartridges were found at the scene, while Kosta was injured in the leg and abdomen and is still in the hospital. The police have seized the footage of the security cameras in some private entities at the scene of the incident. Family members of the officer were also questioned and they gave explanations about the conflict between the officer and Kosta, while eyewitnesses were also questioned.
