A violent clash between two groups, Albanians and Macedonians, occurred in Perugia, Italy, ending with several injured, 11 arrested and 2 others wanted.
The cause of the fight appears to have been a photo taken with a cell phone by one of the young men, which led to the reaction of the other group and then the massive fight, with several Romanians among those involved.
Italian police informed that 5 of the suspects are registered persons, with numerous criminal records, while a 17-year-old minor is also on the run.
Two of the perpetrators hit one of their opponents with a car while fleeing, causing him to suffer serious fractures.
The incident took place in the San Sisto area on Sunday evening, in the premises of a bar. All those arrested, aged between 19 and 31, of Albanian, Romanian and Macedonian origin, were held in the Capanne prison.
They are new residents of Panicale, Piegaro, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Montegabbione and Tavernelle.
According to the investigators' reconstruction, a group of Albanians and a group of Macedonians confronted each other at around 6:45 PM, in a rest area in Sant'Andrea delle Fratte, where there is also a bar.
"The alarm was raised last night by a report to the 112 emergency number. Officers and carabinieri responded to the scene, finding a large number of people fighting violently. Two young men managed to quickly escape in a car, but as they fled, they hit one of the attackers. The man is believed to be a 27-year-old Macedonian man, who was later admitted to the Perugia hospital with multiple fractures in the lower limbs and a 30-day prognosis," Italian media reported .
Reinforcements arriving at the scene led to 11 arrests in flagrante delicto. The search for the two fugitives is ongoing.
Initial investigations, conducted through witness statements and analysis of surveillance camera footage, have allowed the origin of the fight to be reconstructed.
An argument sparked by trivial issues (a photo taken with a cell phone) that quickly escalated into a violent confrontation.
The carabinieri found and seized several sticks, one 65 centimeters long, as well as chairs and tables used in the fight.
A twenty-three-year-old Albanian man tried to hide the ignition key of his car inside a flower vase, an act that did not go unnoticed by law enforcement, who also found a dose of 0.6 grams of cocaine. All are charged with aggravated assault.
