The Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, in a reaction to the arrest of a 27-year-old man in Tirana after stalking a girl for several months, appealed against gender-based violence.
"Stop gender-based violence. Harassing a girl on the street is violence. Chasing him is violence. Stopping him from going to work is violence," Balla emphasized.
"Victims of sexual and gender-based violence must be protected and treated with dignity and respect. It is our duty, it is the duty of the State Police to increase vigilance and resolutely address violence in all its forms and take measures to prevent violence against girls and women, to protect the victims and to prosecute the perpetrators of crime", stressed Balla in a post on social networks.
Balla underlined that victims of violence should not be stigmatized, but we should offer them protection, support and full reintegration into work and society.
"Violence against women and girls has many forms. Therefore, no justification is needed for violence against women", stressed Balla.
