During the presentation of the SPAK report in 2024, the special chief prosecutor, Mr. Altin Dumani, stated that second-tier banks operating in Albania are involved in money laundering schemes.
Duman's Declaration (2024):
“One of the complex money laundering schemes in Albania involves the use of banks by Albanian businesses as intermediaries for international criminal organizations, such as the Italian mafia. In one case, an Albanian business collaborated to give access to the international mafia to integrate proceeds into the banking sector, by layering transfers that would pass through this business.”
An investigation finalized a few days ago with arrests and an official SPAK announcement for the seizure of 17 tons of cocaine and assets, including "Ajman Park Resort", has revealed the involvement of Raiffeisen Bank.
According to documents obtained by weblajm.com, it turns out that all shares and property rights held by Fadil Balla were transferred to Raiffeisen on April 25, 2023. This transfer was made approximately two years before the SPAK crackdown and action, a period that also coincides with the launch of investigations against members of the group to which Balla belonged.
The transfer of shares was carried out after Balla had taken out a loan from Raiffeisen Bank and had left his 100% shares of "Ajman Park" as collateral for its repayment.
This property, as of August 14, has been transferred to state administration as seized property, while the bank that had provided the loan has been notified of this action.
Sources close to SPAK informed weblajm.com that part of the investigations into money laundering and international drug trafficking will also be the loan contract given to this business by Raiffeisen Bank.
Fadil, alias Julian Balla, has been declared wanted in the framework of this operation. For years he was known in Albania as the former president of the football club "Erzeni", as well as a businessman and owner of "AMR Ajman Park"./ Weblajm
