The Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction has left in force the security measures of "prison arrest" for Fatjon Bushgjoka and Petrit Çakrri, suspects in the murder of 23-year-old Renis Dobra on the evening of July 8.
The young man's body was found a day later near Lake Shkopet.
During the hearing, the lawyers engaged in heated debates with prosecutor Etienne Kapo, demanding the immediate release of the suspects and calling the arrest illegal.
The court decided to keep the suspects in prison and set a deadline for collecting additional evidence.
According to the investigation, the suspects, along with Kristi and Aleksandër Bushgjokaj, followed the young man from the town of Burrel, raped him, strangled him with a rope and attempted to hide him by throwing his body and vehicle into the lake.
The serious incident was reported by the police on the morning of July 9.
Despite the claims of the two arrested, the police and the Dibra prosecution are almost convinced that Petrit Çakraj, Fatjon Bushgjoka and their two brothers, Kristi and Aleksandër, who are wanted, are the perpetrators of the incident.
The investigators' suspicion is based on video footage showing the four perpetrators in the town of Burrel, as well as on verifications of the vehicles used during the crime.
Renis Dobra had recently returned from Germany, where he had been deported after being arrested as part of a criminal group distributing drugs. It was precisely because of this activity that the police suspect that the victim had conflicts with the four perpetrators.
