Ermira Kaçaçi, the mother of 31-year-old Gert Shehu, who punched the opposition leader Sali Berisha before the protest, reacted to today's incident.
She rejects the accusations that her son is a crime agent or connected to the police, as she confirms that her son has bipolar disorder and has been receiving treatment for 5 years.
"He is neither an agent, nor is he related to the police. He is sick with bipolar disorder, has epicrisis, has been treated for 5 years. I didn't know where it was. In the morning I left him alone, I told him to stay at home, as if I had a premonition. He was twice in the psychiatric emergency room, once I took him to the police because he was bad," the 31-year-old's mother told Euronews.
She said that her son is being treated with the drug Tegretol and is followed by doctor Sadik Lala.
Tegretol is an anticonvulsant that is sometimes prescribed as a mood stabilizer in bipolar disorder. In addition to seizures and bipolar disorders, it is also prescribed for the relief of pain in trigeminal neuralgia.
