The Commander of the Air Force of Albania, Brigadier General Ylli Pulaj, has been dismissed from office by the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj.
Begaj has appointed the Brigadier General, Ferdinand Vasil Dimo, to this post.
Although the motives that led to Pulaj's dismissal are unknown, Begaj's decree comes only a month after it was reported in the media that agents of the National Bureau of Investigation had landed in his office and seized his personal phone.
Hints are that SPAK is conducting investigations related to the alienation of Albanian Army properties, which in some cases have been given to powerful businessmen in the country to turn into resorts and tourist villages.
Such a political charge has weighed on the former Foreign Minister Olta Xhaçka, who previously held the position of Minister of Defense, already dismissed by Prime Minister Edi Rama.
A strong voice for these denunciations was the former Deputy Commander of the Naval Force Artur Meçollari.
