A rare species, a 2.5 m long sea snake, has been caught in the nets of Radhima fishermen.

The snake species, Ophisurus serpens, was found by fishermen in the Pasha Limani area, at a depth of 50 m, and specialists will assess this snake and its danger, euronews writes.

Sherif Dyrmishi, a fisherman who knows the Vlora Bay area, says that this is the first time he has caught such a species. He adds that biologists will evaluate it, and according to them, this is a sea snake that is not thought to be poisonous.

"It feeds on microorganisms, including parasites called Anisakis simplex, but it is not edible by humans."

According to Dyrmish, this snake is not thought to be dangerous. It lives deep in underwater caves.
