Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again called on emigrants to return to their homeland to invest. In the 'Sy m'Sy' column, the prime minister responded to commentators who were discussing the level of salaries in Albania compared to those in Greece.
"Those who say it's better in Greece are not true.
"Lies, I work as a shepherd and get 1 thousand euros, the owner pays for the house, electricity and water. In Albania, a tank of fuel costs 250 thousand lek," the commentators write.
One of the commentators, who wrote that in our country he used to work with a salary of 250 thousand old lek and now in Greece he receives 1 thousand euros, the head of government states that Albania has gone through a phase of major economic changes and there are no longer salaries of 250 thousand old lek.
Rama also stressed that the tourism and construction sectors in Albania offer similar incomes to those in Greece, but with lower taxes. He added that for those working outside the city, many companies cover their food and accommodation expenses.
"It's been a while since there were salaries of 250 thousand old lek in Albania. 57% of salaries in Albania have no tax, while 36% of them have 4-10% tax. Only salaries over 1300 euros have a tax over 10%. The second with tourism and construction in Albania gets as much as in Greece and pays less tax, while when you are out of town, the company pays for both accommodation and food, these are facts. And this also explains the return of those who have started to return and work in tourism or of those who save their savings abroad in slang. Because you find out where and where better", said Prime Minister Rama.
Times have changed in Europe and the world, says the Prime Minister, emphasizing that the cost of living has increased so much that there are no longer savings like before. Rama says that in a few years Albania will be part of the European Union and those who return give themselves the opportunity to earn more, before with the entry into the Union everything becomes the same as everywhere else.
"Third, slow down with the cake and the pie, because these are no longer the times that they were. The world and Europe are no longer the same as they were yesterday. The cost of living has increased so much that there are no more savings like before. Everyone should calmly look at their options and decide whether to return completely or partially, some time here some time there, or whether by investing here and staying there. All are possible and of all these you find people who have returned or have turned their eyes to Albania. We are on the path towards the top of Albania 2030, in a few years we will be members of the EU, everything will change but whoever comes today gives himself the opportunity to earn more, before with entering the EU everything becomes the same as everywhere else", said Rama.
