"They kidnapped and raped us after they saw us kissing", two lesbian Albanians gain ASYLUM in Great Britain!

A lesbian couple from Albania have won the right to remain in the United Kingdom after a British court ruled that returning them to their homeland would expose them to the risk of discrimination and persecution.

The women, who had been victims of trafficking and violence because of their sexual orientation, argued that although homosexuality is no longer illegal in Albania, society there remains conservative, patriarchal and male-dominated.

According to court documents, the women were kidnapped, sexually assaulted and physically abused by several men after they were seen kissing in public.

Their lawyers emphasized that there is a clear connection between their sexual orientation and the fact that they were trafficked, and that in Albania, victims of trafficking are often blamed and stigmatized, having difficulty in social integration and employment.

Judge Rebecca Chapman assessed that the women would be at risk if they returned to their hometown of Shkodra.

She added that even if they tried to relocate to another part of Albania, the country is small and so interconnected that their safety could not be guaranteed./ The Telegraph
