The doctor amputates the baby's finger in Skopje

A doctor has been suspended from her job and is now facing charges after accidentally cutting off a newborn baby's finger.

The event happened at the Gynecology Clinic in Skopje, 10 days ago. The clinic also reacted to this incident saying that it has suspended the doctor from work.

"An unfortunate incident happened in the newborn ward at the Clinic for Gynecology and Obstetrics - Skopje, when a doctor accidentally cut off part of the baby's thumb during delivery. The attending pediatrician acted as professionally and responsibly as possible and the pediatric surgeon was called immediately. The newborn baby was transferred to the Children's Surgery Clinic, where the injury was repaired", say the Gynecology Clinic, Skopje.

The Clinic emphasizes that the doctor has been suspended from work. The Disciplinary Commission has decided the maximum punishment according to the Law on health care, as well as the change of workplace.
