After a successful career of more than six years at OpenAI, Mira Murati has announced her departure from the company.

In a letter published on the 'X' platform, Murati thanked the team for the trust and support given during her leadership. She praised OpenAI's recent achievements, including the launch of new technologies that have changed the way artificial intelligence works.

“I'm leaving because I want to create the time and space to do my own exploring. At the moment, my main focus is to do everything in my power to ensure a smooth transition, maintaining the momentum we have built", Mira Murati emphasizes"

Hello everyone, I have something to share with you. After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to leave OpenAl. Six and a half years with the OpenAl team has been an incredible privilege. While I will express my gratitude to many individuals in the coming days, I want to start by thanking Sam and Greg for their faith in me to lead the technical organization and for their support throughout the years.

There is never an ideal time to leave a place one cherishes, however this moment is right. Our latest releases and OpenAl mark the beginning of a new era in interoperability and intelligence, powered by your ingenuity and ingenuity. We didn't just build smarter models, we fundamentally changed the way Al systems learn and reason through complex problems.

We brought security research from the theoretical realm to practical applications, creating models that are more robust, aligned, and directed than ever before. Our work has made Al's latest research intuitive and accessible, developing technology that adapts and evolves based on everyone's input. This success is a testament to our incredible teamwork and it is because of your brilliance, dedication and commitment that OpenAl stands at the pinnacle of Al innovation.

I'm leaving because I want to create the time and space to do my own exploring. For now, my main focus is doing everything in my power to ensure a smooth transition while maintaining the momentum we've built.

I will always be grateful for the opportunity to build and work alongside this incredible team. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of scientific understanding in our quest to improve human well-being. While I may no longer be a part of OpenAl with you, I will still be standing by you all. With deep gratitude for the friendships made, triumphs achieved and most importantly, challenges overcome together. Good!
