The 39-year-old Albanian man who killed his wife in Athens has confessed to Greek investigators the reason why he committed the crime.

According to Greek media, the reason was jealousy. The perpetrator told police that, according to him, his wife was cheating on him with his close friend.

It all happened, according to the 39-year-old's claims, when the woman received a call from his friend and went into the bathroom to talk. The man overheard her, got angry, and decided to kill her.

According to his account, the Albanian took a hammer and hit the woman in the head. She lost consciousness, and then the 39-year-old strangled her with his hands. Then, he wrapped her body in a sheet and hid the body in their room.

The crime occurred last Thursday evening. At the time, the couple's two children, aged 9 and 12, were asleep.

The next day, after they woke up, the children asked their father where their mother was. But he told them she had gone to work. While the children left for school.

When the lessons were over, the 39-year-old took the children to his brother's house. These days, they stayed with their uncle.

Today, when they returned to the apartment, the father decided to report the crime and called the police, telling them that he had killed his wife and had been keeping her body in the apartment for a week. The apartment smelled strongly of decomposition.
