Majlind Hatibi is the 35-year-old who threw Brian Shkoza off the bridge into the sewage canal in Durres after a conflict over weak motives.
This event occurred 8 days ago, while only today it was discovered that the 33-year-old's fall into the canal was not accidental but was committed by another person.
35-year-old Hatibi was placed in handcuffs by police this afternoon while he gave his testimony to investigators.
In his testimony, Majlind Hatibi says that the act happened unintentionally and it had not occurred to him that he would die.
He also tells the origin of the debate, saying that Brian Shkoza had harassed his wife and this fact had angered him.
The latter replied that the woman solves her own problems, and this further outraged the author, as he says in the statement.
Among other things, he expresses remorse, not realizing that he had left her for dead after pushing her.
He learned that Brian had died the next day when the family was searching for him after he had not returned to the apartment.
"I didn't want to kill Branko, but I pushed him thinking that he would be able to get out of the water, because it's shallow there. I was angry because he had harassed my wife. I told him not to harass her anymore. He told me your wife solves her own problems. Under these conditions, I pushed him. The next day I found out that he hadn't gone home and his family was looking for him. I went to the canal and saw that he was drowning in the water a few meters away. I regretted my action. Later, the police went there and I saw an ambulance that took him away. I thought that what I had done would not be found out, but would be treated as a careless fall," Majlind Hatibi said in his statement.
The body of 33-year-old Brian Shkoza was found by authorities on December 5th in a sewage canal in Durrës.
Family members had filed a police report regarding his disappearance on December 4, stating that they had lost contact with the 33-year-old two days earlier, when he had left the apartment for the last time.
