On May 8, the first test landing of the aircraft will take place on the runway of Vlora Airport, which is in the final phase of construction. The news was announced during the signing of the agreement between the Albanian state military company "Kayo" and the Israeli defense company "Elbit System LTD" for the establishment of the Aviation Academy.
Prime Minister Rama described it as an important step in supporting civil aviation, reiterating the government's ambition to revive the defense industry and military production.
"I am confident that this agreement signed today will give us in the next 4-5 years the opportunity to be proud to be here today. We are in a process of discussions in several directions, but the essence is to reborn our defense industry and our military production industry. We are optimistic, we have the right partners and allies who are leaders in this field, not only Israel, but also the US and other EU countries and Turkey, which is our strategic ally."
Earlier, in a meeting he held with students and professors of the coastal city, Rama revealed his intention to turn the Aviation Academy into a regional center, while announcing other agreements in the maritime industry.
"We will soon have another agreement with Ficanteri of Italy to revitalize the shipbuilding and maintenance yards here in Vlora."
In addition to the projects he said are waiting to get underway, Rama also spoke with figures about the government's investments in this region over the past decade.
"Urban regeneration, we have done 140 projects worth 172 million Euros. In a decade we have invested 1.27 billion Euros in the Vlora region."
