A hearing is being held at the GJKKO regarding the Tirana incinerator, for which the Special Prosecution announced its claim a few weeks ago.
Taulant Tushe GJKKO letter from prison.
Tushe: I have been imprisoned without trial. Regarding the waste process, I and the Municipality of Tirana have tried to do our best. There was no complaint about this concession at the Public Procurement Agency. We, as the Municipality, did our duty as far as it was concerned. With this standard that you have set, other employees of the administration may feel endangered and afraid. I ask to be declared innocent.
The letter was read by his defense lawyers who claimed before Judge Elsa Ulliri that a false story had been created, according to which, according to them, officials from the Municipality of Tirana and the Ministry of Environment had agreed in advance and earlier that they would initiate the procedures for the concession.
For Taulant Tushe, former director of the Municipality of Tirana, SPAK has requested a sentence of 4 years in prison, which, upon application of the summary trial, is reduced to 2 years and 8 months in prison if found guilty.
