The Vlora Court has imposed the security measure " Arrest in prison " for  Granit Pepnika , who was arrested a few days ago in Dhërmi for the criminal offense of "Computer fraud".

It is reported that the same security measure, "Arrest in prison", has also been imposed on Xhoni Hitaj , accused of the same criminal offense " Computer fraud ", as well as on Redion Rexhmati, who is accused of the criminal offense "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime".

Pepnika was arrested a few days ago during an operation conducted in Dhërmi, where Xhoni Hitaj, 31, and Redion Rexhmati, 28, were also arrested.

During the search of the villa where they were staying, the Police found and seized a firearm, a pistol, as well as a quantity of narcotics, suspected to be cannabis sativa. 

Pepnika is suspected of defrauding hundreds of citizens of 50 million euros in financial damages.

The scheme operated through professionally organized call centers, where operators communicated in German, Italian, and English with European citizens, introducing themselves as financial advisors or representatives of investment platforms.

Investigators suspect that victims are lured through fake online platforms, where they are promised huge profits from investments in the stock market, cryptocurrencies or financial markets.

In many cases they used false identities, pseudonyms, and fabricated profiles to create trust in the people they contacted.
