The devastating earthquake in Turkey has shocked and sensitized the whole world. As a result, many truly emotional moments have gone viral on the web. Those with animals and their reactions are no exception here.
Invited to "ABC e Mângjesit", the manager of the Veterinary Hospital, Ornela Mebelli, has shown the reason why animals sense the earthquake before it hits.
"Earthquakes have been happening for a long time. And if you read the story of the animals that predicted the earthquake, it dates back to the ancient Greek civilization in 1373, when a very powerful earthquake leveled the entire city. What has also been noticed is that all the animals, including the centipedes, those worms, have left days before the devastating earthquake. So they show that animals feel it.
At the moment of the earthquake, there are two types of waves, the P wave which is insensitive to one, it is horizontal, and the S wave, which is like a wave, which we feel and which does the damage. Animals feel this type of wave from the beginning. This is the reason they feel it. Plus the senses, like the sense of smell, that the earth normally starts and ionizes, emits seismic waves, and a dog has 220 million senses in its nose. There is a very big difference with one," she revealed.
Further, when asked how long before animals can feel it, Ornela said:
"Earthquakes happen all the time. It is these small waves that we do not feel, but that animals do. Even we sometimes see that there is some kind of anxiety in animals, but the only fact that why animals are not used for earthquakes is because their anxious behavior can happen for a number of reasons and you cannot separate it.
Of all animals, even elephants are the ones who feel and sense it many times more. In Japan when the earthquake that brought all those kinds of devastating consequences, the first animals to move before the earthquake were the elephants in the Japan zoo."
