The security measure for Vjola Sterjon, the director of the Environment in the Municipality of Tirana, who was arrested for fraud on December 27, 2022, is changing.
Through her lawyer, Sterjo requested the replacement of the security measure from "prison arrest" to "house arrest". The request was accepted by the Court of First Instance of Korça, which on March 8 decided to replace the security measure "prison arrest" with the security measure "house arrest".
The session was held without the presence of Sterjo, while it is learned that the court has softened the security measure against her, with the justification of the need for custody of her two minor children, 7 and 10 years old.
Vjola Sterjo was arrested in December for the criminal offense of "fraud with serious consequences", after the prosecution's denunciation and several months of investigation, which documented that Sterjo had defrauded several businessmen in Korça and Pogradec, taking large sums of money from from 50,000 euros to 160,000 euros, being promised that he would be provided with subsidies from AZHBR. Sterjo has held senior leadership positions in the public administration, such as at e-Albania and AKSHI.
