Following the announcement made a few days ago by Prime Minister Rama, the action to free up public spaces in Tirana has officially begun.
Inspection groups have intervened today in the center of the capital, near the area known as "Piazza", removing tables, chairs and illegal structures, with the aim of restoring these spaces that impede free movement and public safety for the benefit of citizens.
But the action taken by state structures has not been well received by many owners who have their businesses on the first floors of residential blocks.
In protest, today they have closed bars and restaurants, saying that removing tables and tents will harm their economic activity.
The action has also been extended to cities such as Durrës, Vlora, Elbasan and Shkodra where inspection teams are continuing to conduct checks and implement measures to occupy public spaces.
Many entities have been given until Friday to vacate the occupied spaces, otherwise the intervention will be accompanied by punitive measures.
