Free movement in the Kosovo-Albania cross-border areas

Free movement of citizens in cross-border areas between Kosovo and Albania is enabled. The news was given by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, in a post on social networks.

Kurti writes that "The Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Kosovo and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Albania have signed the Implementation Protocol of the Government Agreement on the Local Traffic Regime in the Border Areas, enabling the free movement of citizens living in the areas border, in 26 separate border crossings".

From today, says Kurti, over 200,000 citizens of Kosovo and Albania who live in areas up to 30 km from the land border have the right to cross the border freely and stay in the border area, for social, cultural, family reasons, etc.

"This Agreement further deepens our interstate cooperation and facilitates the interaction of citizens on both sides of the border", Kurti further states.
