Eugert Merizaj,

An Albanian convicted of murder in England is constantly sharing videos on social networks from his prison cell in Manchester, despite the guards removing his equipment several times.

According to The Times, it is about Eugert Merizaj, who has been illegally posting on Instagram and TikTok since he was sentenced to 32 years in prison in May 2022.

The 33-year-old Albanian was jailed for his leading role in the brutal shooting death of drug dealer Hemaëand Ali Hussein in Hartlepool in 2019.

Merizaj has boasted that he spends 'half the time' on the phone, despite prison staff seizing at least three devices in the past four months.

Possession or use of a mobile phone in prison without authorization is a criminal offence, although prosecutions are rare, British media wrote.

Merizaj created a TikTok account to replace the one that had 60,000 followers when it was shut down. He already has about 18,000 followers on his new account. Yesterday he filmed himself in his cell singing while wearing a T-shirt and shorts.

He recently posed on Instagram wearing Dolce & Gabbana with the caption 'stronger than ever' written in Albanian. The post was accompanied by a song by his compatriot, Stresi, entitled "Don't give up", writes The Times.

While in another video he appears listening to Shkurte Fezajn.

Eugert Merizaj, 31, was extradited from Belgium after police tracked him down.

It is understood that he is one of at least 66 Albanians who have applied to be transferred to serve their sentence in Albania through a prisoner transfer scheme.

It is estimated to cost taxpayers more than £1.4m if Merizaj serves his full sentence in the UK.
