Interior Minister Bledi Çuçi has announced that all voters will vote in the May 14 elections, even though their identity cards have expired.
"We decided to postpone the fate of identity cards that have expired or will expire on May 14. All citizens will be able to vote even if their means of identification has expired.
The Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi, was asked about the flexibility that the change from a private to a public company for the production of passports and ID cards could have for citizens.
Çuçi said that with "IdentiTek" there will be flexibility and the state will be able to intervene more to help the citizens. The public company also helps to ease the barriers of the past to make effective changes for citizens.
"It is not related to the price at all, it is a contractual relationship with the company that ends in July of this year.
We will complete the contract and take over the entire card company.
Then the question of price is a matter to be decided. We are more flexible to change prices. We are flexible, but it is not related to changing the law," said Çuçi.
One of the changes that this agency will implement as soon as it returns under state administration will be the reduction of fees for both identity cards and passports, but they have not yet been determined as they are under discussion.
