Electoral corruption, Dumani to journalists: We are investigating officials
Altin Dumani

The Head of the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime, Altin Dumani, defended the strategy followed during the elections regarding electoral crimes. He emphasized that it had a preventive effect. He also praised the cooperation with the General Prosecutor's Office and the Central Election Commission.

Dumani announced that a total of 193 complaint materials have been administered, 80 of which were filed by citizens. Ten investigations have been initiated. The head of SPAK said that out of 43 registered cases, one has been sent to court, one has been suspended and another has been referred for jurisdiction.

The head of SPAK added that in 43 cases, a decision was made not to initiate proceedings because there were no elements of a criminal offense. They were mainly complaints from political parties. Only three of them were appealed and the court, according to Dumani, confirmed the prosecutor's decision.

The head of the Special Prosecution Office said that the reports of vote buying have not been accompanied by concrete evidence, but by indications and suspicions.

"SPAK has had direct contact with representatives of political entities, the police and district prosecutors. Prosecutors delegated to the districts have heard all the claims that political entities have had in real time ," said Dumani.

According to the head of SPAK, the typology of reports of electoral crimes was related to electoral asphalt, illegal employment and the use of administration.

Dumani emphasized that SPAK is investigating officials for electoral corruption.

Asked whether or not there was electoral asphalt, illegal employment, or use of the administration, Dumani replied:

"Is there an investigation into campaign financing? So far we have no criminal investigation. For electoral corruption, do you have officials in the investigation and up to what level of the state hierarchy? Yes, we have officials. About the level, at a later moment," said Dumani.
