The criminal file against the former minister of the "Berisha" government, Spiro Ksera, will pass through the filters of the Supreme Court, after almost seven years after he was sentenced to 16 months in prison for the charge of "theft by abuse of office".

The session for reviewing the appeal against the decision of the Tirana Appeal for the former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs and three of his former subordinates will be held on October 18.

In the Supreme Court, the former minister requests the annulment of the decision of the First Instance and the Tirana Appeal and his declaration of innocence, a position he maintained during the investigation and trial. The review of the case will be done in the consultation room, without the presence of the parties, by a Criminal Panel composed of judges Ilir Panda, Sokol Binaj and Sandër Simoni.

The former senior official "knocked" at the Supreme Court in January 2017, but the file did not go to trial earlier due to the load and deadlock that engulfed this court after the start of the vetting.

In December 2016, the Appeal of Tirana upheld the guilty plea of ​​the former minister and three of his former subordinates. According to the court, the former officials of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs had embezzled 30 million ALL from the ministry's budget, fictitiously, only on paper, some activities for the needy. Ksera was arrested on January 29, 2016 and remained in prison until a few days after the Appeal decision.
