The teachers are holding the next protest, where they demand the doubling of salaries.

They have gathered in front of the Faculty of Arts, while emphasizing that they are not satisfied with the 7% increase from the state budget and 8% from the university itself.

Monday is the start date of the new academic year, but lecturers say that if the government does not react, they will not enter the classrooms, while calling on students to unite under the slogan investment for quality education.

The union of Albanian university employees anticipates the need for a fund of 15 million euros to evaluate about 5,000 academics and administrative staff, and this would be possible according to them by saving from public tenders.

This week is decisive for whether or not to start the new academic year on October 17, depending on the reaction or silence of the government.
