The residents of Bërxulla have been protesting for several months because, due to the Thumane-Kashar project, their homes will be demolished, while they still have no answer from the institutions about what will happen to them.

Two days ago, two of them attempted self-immolation by climbing a high voltage pole for 2 hours. They have said that they have not received any response from the state and that they will not leave it at that since they have been investing for years.

"I am repulsed by this whole road that is being built and we have protested. In the municipality, mini-municipality, administrative units, we have not been given any answer. These are pairs with each other. I climbed the pole, my brother saw me. I am disabled, something I have never experienced in my life. I know how I have the house. The state is not responding to us for anything. That day I consciously rode, took an act that even a young man hardly does. If they don't answer us, we will take more extreme actions. The state has not provided any compensation. God willing, I will see us too. Let this project come back. I am the father of a daughter, seeing that we protest for our rights, for more than 3 months, the Serbian institutions have made no move, how can I stay watching my child on the streets. I thought I'd end it with that. Balluku is the vampire of all Albanians. We have our hopes in Allah. I have made the decision and I will not leave it at that. If they put my lead here, I won't stop"- they said to Faxnews.
