The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) has signed a grant agreement with the Municipality of Tirana to create a new urban landmark: Qatar Square.
This agreement was formalized by Sultan bin Ahmed Al Aseeri, the General Director (acting) of QFFD and Erion Veliaj, Mayor of Tirana, with Qatari Ambassador Jabor bin Ali Hussein Al Dosari present.
Qatar Square will cover 23,700 square meters in the center of Albania's capital and will cost 11 million euros. The square will have various facilities, including spaces for events, exhibitions and parties as well as shops and gathering areas. A key component of the project is a water purification system for the Lana River, which will support natural irrigation for a nearby park.

The design of Qatar Square will be inspired by traditional Qatari designs known as Sadu. This aesthetic choice aims to celebrate Qatari culture and promote cultural exchange between Qatar and Albania.
The long-term vision for the square includes developing 25,000 homes in the area and creating employment opportunities for locals. This initiative is expected to stimulate the Albanian economy and increase the local labor market.
This project highlights Qatar's commitment to supporting international development and strengthening global partnerships through major infrastructure investments./ MSN
