The brothers Edmond and Xovani Gocaj and Myrezim Zeneli on the one hand and Kujtim Verracaku on the other hand, were killed on June 27, 2021 after a conflict over placing umbrellas on the beach in front of their hotels in Velipoja.

In an interview for the Uniko show from Spartak Koka to Klan Plus, Pjetër Gocaj, the father of the murdered Gocaj brothers, says that the massacre would not have happened if the surveyors had waited to determine the division of the plots on the beach.

The surveyors went 1 week after the tragedy. Pjetër Gocaj was informed that the plot that his family had, but that the other side of the Verracaku family was looking for, did not belong to any of them, but had been given to another business.
