Iranian state television has described Queen Elisabeth as "a criminal" and even compared her to Adolf Hitler, according to the Daily Mail.

As the world mourns one of the most beloved figures in modern history, the authoritarian regime claimed the monarch's death is 'good news for the oppressed people of the world' and said her legacy is littered with crimes.

Iran's Foreign Ministry has not commented on her death or the accession of King Charles III. On the Iranian network Channel 1, researcher Foad Izadi of the University of Tehran said: “Perhaps, in light of her 70 years on the throne, she should be included in the same list as Hitler.

From a certain point of view, we should be sad that she died because she went untried, unpunished, and unpunished for her crimes. The Queen was an imperialist, colonizer, war criminal, the aggression of the British army all over the world was done under her name.

The British Armed Forces are the Queen's armed forces. We have several people who have been involved in so many atrocities in the last century: Hitler, for example, several American presidents belong on that list, and of course the queen," he said.

The PressTV website also posted a commentary criticizing the Queen for leading a 'colonial kingdom' which 'caused suffering to millions around the world'.

They blamed him for the fact that Iran had no sovereignty over Bahrain and for the deadly crackdown on protesters against the Iranian regime in 2009, reports abcnews.al.

While there has been some backlash against the monarchy, the vast majority of comments about the Queen have been dour and gloomy, focusing on how she has led Britain through the past seven decades of social upheaval.

Unlike many countries, state television in the Islamic Republic gave only a brief announcement of the queen's death. Haniyeh, a student, told AFP she learned of the queen's death from social media.
