Julian Meçaj, considered number two of the "Durres Gang", has been detained in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Meçaj, known as Plarent Dervishaj's right-hand man, was detained earlier in Albania, where he was interrogated in relation to the assassination of prosecutor Arjan Ndoj, and was then released.

He was suspected of being the person who ordered the assassination.

In 2019, Meçaj and Plarent Dervishaj, Lul Berisha's brother-in-law, were the targets of an assassination attempt on the Tirana-Durres highway, where 40 bullets were fired at them. Both were injured at the time.
