A US citizen has been arrested in Tirana for possessing a hallucinogenic drug known as "magic mushrooms"

Police say the 32-year-old American was captured near the Artificial Lake in Tirana, while drugs were found in his apartment.

Police announcement:

It is finalized by the Narcotics Investigation Department in cooperation with police station No. 1, the police operation codenamed "Shrooms".

Suspected cannabis and psilocybin (magic mushrooms) are sequestrated.

Their possession is arrested in the flagrant.

Specialists of the Narcotics Investigation Sector, in cooperation with police commissariat No. 1, following the successive operations to crack down on criminal activities in the field of narcotics, supported by operative intelligence, have organized in the direction of the Prosecution, the police operation codenamed "Shrooms".

As a result of this operation, the American citizen A. U., 32, residing in Tirana, was arrested in flagrantly for the criminal offense "Production and sale of narcotics".

Police services have located in the park of the artificial lake of Tirana, the aforementioned citizen, which during the physical and apartment search, they found and seized, in the quality of material evidence, suspected narcotic cannabis and psilocybin (magic mushrooms).

The procedurale materials were passed to the Prosecution office for further action.

Magic mushrooms cause hallucinations and can affect the brain for weeks, according to studies.
