A photo of 44-year-old Albanian Esma Meço, who was killed yesterday by her husband, was published today.
The Albanian woman from Gramsh was stabbed to death in the neck by her 53-year-old husband, Bujar Meço.
Greek media reports that the 44-year-old was a victim of domestic violence for many years. Under these circumstances, it is learned that Esma had decided to separate and had scheduled a meeting with her lawyer, which would have taken place today if things had not ended tragically.
While investigations to fully uncover the incident are ongoing, it is reported that details have emerged from the forensic examination, which has confirmed that Esma died on the spot as a result of the wound she sustained.
The knife wound to the neck was deep, with the blade reaching and penetrating the right lung, causing severe internal and external bleeding.
It is reported that no other injuries were found on the body and it is said that death is estimated to have occurred very quickly, in only 3 to 5 minutes. It is also learned that the knife that took Esma Meço's life was approximately 20 centimeters long.
In a statement given to Protothema.gr, the lawyer representing the unfortunate 44-year-old, Evangelia Kola, announced that the victim had decided to divorce the 53-year-old and that they had not been living together recently.
Referring to the investigations so far, it is reported that the reason for the violence against Esma was jealousy, but the possibility that the reason for her murder was a request for divorce cannot be ruled out.
While it is reported that the 53-year-old was taking medication and had previously been admitted to a psychiatric clinic, it was determined that he did not need further hospitalization.
