During the last two days, two American experts on cyber crimes are in Tirana to put the internal systems of the State Police into operation.
They have been agreed by the Albanian government after Iranian-funded hackers attacked the TIMS system at all border crossing points.
The two foreign experts in cooperation with the IT specialist in our country are working to strengthen the systems. Experts and NATO have been asked for help in obtaining some filters that will strengthen the system.
For 4 days now, the malfunction of the internal system has made it difficult for the blue uniforms in the directorates of all districts and in the police stations of the country. This, as their computers have not been put into operation until the moment the system will be fully functional. Complaints and reports to the police are kept manually.
Meanwhile, the number of officers has been increased at the border points, where, in addition to TIMS, checks are also being made with the registers, in order to increase security measures.
ABC learns that from the moment the TIMS system was hacked until its restoration, only at the "Mother Teresa" airport, in Rinas, 28 citizens were refused movement. 15 out and 13 in.
The ban was made for security reasons, as it was difficult to verify them with the registers or they did not have convincing reasons for the destination they were going to travel to.
This is the second attack that happened within a short period of time that Iranian hackers attack Albania, after the attack on e-Albania.
A day ago, the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana stated that both cases are being investigated in a single file.
It is learned that the first attack, that of the government portal e-Albania, was launched by the Ministry of Justice. Initially, an e-mail in PDF format was sent to an employee of this institution. After the link was clicked, the virus spread to the national registry of notaries and then to the e-Albania system.
