A 35-year-old Albanian man convicted of raping an 18-year-old has been jailed again after British authorities discovered he had returned to the UK despite being deported in 2019.

In the first news in foreign media by Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu, Albanian Blerim Hajdarmataj was found living in Rayleigh, Essex, in July 2026. He was convicted after admitting to knowingly entering Britain in breach of a deportation order.

Hajdarmataj, who has also used the names Ben Matka and Rinor Hajdarmataj, appeared at Basildon Crown Court, where he also admitted breaching notification obligations for people registered as sex offenders.

He had not notified the police of his return to Britain or of his new address.

The incident for which Hajdarmataj was initially convicted occurred in September 2014, when he was working as a cleaner.

He had met the 18-year-old in a bar in Chelmsford and invited her to his flat. Initially, she had refused.

However, the next morning, the young woman woke up in Hajdarmataj's bed without clothes and with injuries to her body, including scratches, bruises, and bite marks.

She also stated that it felt like the room was spinning. Realizing that something was wrong, she left the apartment and managed to stop a passing vehicle to call for help, while Hajdarmataj followed her.

After police investigations, he faced charges of rape.

In 2016, while the case was being heard in court, Hajdarmataj escaped.

The trial continued in his absence and he was found guilty. Authorities began searching for him and initially located him abroad.

He was found in Kosovo, after being traced to Albania, and then returned to Britain through a European Arrest Warrant, in order to face his sentence.

In 2017, police officer Terry Balding said Hajdarmataj had taken advantage of a vulnerable young girl in a "horrific and disgusting" way.

Police also condemned his escape during the process, stressing that it had caused the victim further fear and distress.

Following his conviction, Hajdarmataj was deported from Britain in 2019. The deportation order prohibited him from legally returning to the UK for as long as the order was in force.

Despite this, authorities discovered he had returned to Britain and was living in Rayleigh, Essex, in July this year.

Hajdarmataj had also violated the obligations imposed on him as a registered sex offender, as he had failed to notify the police of his return and new address.

Hajdarmataj appeared again at Basildon Crown Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to both charges.

Judge Richard Conley sentenced him to 16 months in prison for breaching his sex offender registration obligations. For returning to Britain in breach of a deportation order, he received a further 12 months, to be served concurrently with his main sentence.

After completing his prison sentence, further measures may be taken against Hajdarmataj by British immigration authorities for his illegal stay in the country.
