Orjana Gremi , the girl who in January 2023 , threw her newborn baby into the waters of the Kir river, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison .

On February 12, 2024, the judges of Shkodra decided to declare Gremi guilty and sentenced, for the charge of "Murder of a minor".

The serious event shocked public opinion, due to the abandonment of the newborn baby in the waters of the Kir River.

Before giving the decision, Orjana Gremi asked for mercy, showing deep remorse for the crime committed.

The serious event that shocked public opinion happened on January 5, 2023, 5 days after the new mother had given birth to her baby.

She threw it into the waters of the Kir River, which proved fatal for the baby, while immediately after the incident, she was arrested in the village of Golem, where she lived with relatives.
