The railway transport received during the past year at least 21 million euros which went for interventions in the existing network and works, studies and consultancy, but the lion's share went to the Tirana-Durra rehabilitation project and the extension of Rina.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy reported that most of the expenses that have gone to the programming of rail transport are foreign funded, being dominated in over 63 percent by the construction of the new line that is being supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. .

Specifically, there are at least five projects with internal financing where expenses have been incurred.

First, for the "Reformed Railway System" product, which includes the subsidy for railway support, 501 million ALL were planned and 501 million ALL were realized.

In the same way, 15.2 million ALL were planned for the product "Carried out railway inspections" and 14.2 million ALL were realized. For the product "Improvement of railway infrastructure" 49 million ALL have been realized for two projects: 1. Reconstruction of the Milot - Lezhë railway line, realized for 3,545 thousand ALL or 100%. 2. Repair of works of art, realized in 45,684 thousand ALL or 99.5%

Other expenses are dedicated to the product "Increasing the availability of rolling stock" for IT equipment for the Railways and reconstruction of railway departments and lines.

With foreign funding, there are at least 14 million euros which have gone to various projects, but the four most important ones are related to Tirana-Durres. These are: supervision of works "Rehabilitation of the railway line Durrës - Tirana and the construction of the new railway line to Rinas airport; the drafting of the detailed project of the public transport terminal railway line - Tirana train station (4km) as an extension of the Durrës - Tirana railway line; rehabilitation of the Durrës railway line; Tirana passenger thermal and the construction of the Tirana - Rinas railway line; the rehabilitation of the railway line Durrës - Termali Tirana and the construction of the railway line Tirana - Rinas 2.

Projects such as the drafting of the preliminary project Rrogozhinë-Pogradec-Lin (Border with North Macedonia), Feasibility study and Project-idea for the railway connection Durrës - Pristina or the Asset Management plan and the Railway Charging Methodology also stand out. Albanian./Monitor
