Woman, man or transgender? The debate about the mural in City Studenti, the
mural

This mural, since August, covers the facade of one of the buildings in the Student City. In the dilemma of what it represents, the image of a woman, a man or a free-flying transgender, the image has sparked debate.

Pastor Akil Pano, is one of the public figures who reacted in relation to it.

“In the background; as far as I can tell, I see the muscular body of a man who wants to be a woman, as he thinks he reveals to the world the 'graces' of a woman in a man's body!? May I be wrong! Tell me a little please; Whose responsibility is it to place this 'creation' in one of the buildings? Why among students/young people? Were the students asked, or did they face the fact?", writes the pastor, among other things.

It is the Decor of Tirana Municipality, which has enabled the realization of this mural, while the authorship, as we learn from them, belongs to an Argentinian author named Sasha.

"The mural in question was made by a Spanish artist who, after finishing one mural in a short time, asked to make a second one, inspired by a Roma woman who was begging for alms at the palace where he had worked. He created rapprochements with him, so much so that during the time when he was working on the first mural, he shared lunch with him. He wanted to use her as a model with the idea that the only moment when she could feel good and free, was by putting her on a wall with colors and Albanian motifs, as is the case with the elements of the carpet in the background.", the answer from Dekori of Tirana Municipality for TV Report.

Regarding the selection of the place, Dekor answers that it was done randomly.

"The choice of the place was random in the student city, since they proposed three facades, there was not much time to be able to work on a facade over 4-5 floors", further answers the decorator, clarifying that for this mural the Municipality has not made no payment and that it was made at the request of the artist.

The lack of time is the explanation given by the artist Helidon Haliti for the approximation of this mural with a transgender figure. According to him, the artist did not have enough time to emphasize the feminine features, while the height has reinforced these difficulties.

In August, the artist also participated in this year's 'MuralFest' curated by Helidon Haliti, with another work, where, as he himself explains on social networks, he follows the same concept.

"This is my second mural in Albania, with the same concept of a woman dancing and jumping towards the sky. It was realized taking into account local references and trying to portray non-standardized beauty," explains the artist.
