New details have been revealed from the December 16 assassination where businessman Edmond Papa was executed at the entrance of a bar in the Selita area of ​​Tirana.

Sources inform that from the security cameras the police was able to document that the executor (citizen AB, 44 years old, resident in Tirana) parked the Smart type car near the bar. After carrying out the execution, he left with Albano Velo in an Audi A4.

Then Albano Velo left for France, while the suspected author of the event returned a few days later and took the Smart car to leave in an unknown direction.

Sources indicate that Albano Velo had the role of Edmond Pope's observer, who was kept under surveillance for several days by the perpetrators.

It is known that Albano Velo was arrested in the early hours of the morning of January 1, 2023, in flagrante delicto conditions at the "Mother Teresa" airport, just as he was returning from France.

The Tirana court has assigned him today the security measure of "prison arrest", as Albano Velo has denied involvement in the crime.

Tracks and investigations:

Sources close to the investigative group indicate that so far there are two lines of investigation, while the possibility of connecting this murder with the one three days later in Greece has been ruled out.

One track is that of disrupting drug deals and the other is that of revenge for the murder of Aleksandët Sadikaj, in which Edmond Papa is suspected to have been involved.

Aleksandër Sadikaj, otherwise known as "Sanço", was killed with a remote control bomb while driving on the Tirana-Elbasan axis last June, on the outskirts of the capital.

The main evidence that leads the police to connect the two murders is the fact that Papa and Sadikaj met in Saranda two days before the murder of the latter. There are doubts that this meeting between them did not go well and then brought the serious incident.
