The next session in the trial of Plaurent Dervishaj and Julian Meçaj, accused of the assassination of former prosecutor Arjan Ndoja, was accompanied by tensions and debates.
At the beginning of the hearing, Dervishaj's lawyers requested that the media not be present, but the request was rejected by the court.
Immediately after this, the situation escalated with the reaction of Dervishaj, who left the courtroom and left, as did his defense lawyers.
Plaurent Dervishaj: You don't have the strength to face my rights, seeing that journalists misinform the statements of witnesses. I don't have it for everyone, but for specific names. What are we asking for here? I give up on lawyers Ilia Ilia and Gerta Gorjani. Conduct the trial yourself, the prosecutor is there. I will not appear in court again.
The prosecutor in the case, Adnan Xholi, stressed that the lawyers' departure is unacceptable and requested the Court's intervention.
"The defendant's right to participate or not in the trial. Despite the defendant's request, the lawyers should not have left the courtroom, however, measures will be taken by the court. I request that they be replaced by lawyers, otherwise the hearing be postponed, suspending the detention periods for both, and that the National Bar Association be notified of the lawyers' abandonment of the hearing," he said.
Meanwhile, Julian Meçaj's lawyer, Isuf Shehu, requested that any decision not violate the terms of detention.
"The decision should be differentiated for the suspension of pre-trial detention periods, as there is no reason for this and no reason for postponing the court session," he emphasized.
The next hearing was postponed to December 5, while Dervishaj will be represented by a lawyer.
