The former police officer, considered one of europe's biggest cocaine and heroin trafficking co-workers, was arrested in Kosovo on Saturday. Today, the Basic Court in Ferizaj has assigned him the measure of detention.

Çela was wanted by albanian justice on the basis of an international arrest warrant for allegedly committing the crime of "narcotics trafficking" and "manufacturing and carrying non-permitted combat weapons and ammunition"

Çela will remain behind bars, awaiting the extradition decision to Albania.

"After holding the hearing and analyzing the cases, the judge of preliminary procedure of the Department for Serious Crimes, has assessed that there is a well-founded suspicion that an international arrest was issued against him by Interpol, on request of 8 August 2014 and 1 March 2022 of the State of Albania due to the criminal offences trafficking with narcotics from Article 283 a/2 and the production and maintenance without the permission of the Combat weapons and ammunition under Article 278/4 of the Penal Code of the Republic of Albania (SNAP) and Italy, because the same person was sentenced to a prison sentence of nineteen (19) years and nine (9) months and twenty-nine (29) days for criminal offences of trafficking in narcotics.

"The judge of preliminary procedure, the request of the State Prosecutor for determining the detention measure against the defendant has approved as based on article 22 paragraph 1 of the Law on International Legal Cooperation in Criminal Matters (Law No. 04/L-213) and the same person has been assigned a period of detention for four (40) days," the press release reads.
