The High Court has rejected the return to duty of the former deputy director of OFL, Artan Shkëmbi.
The decision was made today, even though the Rock itself also withdrew from the appeal. As of December 2020, the former number 2 of the law enforcement operation continues to be suspended from duty. Artan Shkëmbi was put under investigation for "Misuse of duty".
Artan Shkëmbi is accused of having published information about two people who were under investigation and debunking the investigative actions that were being carried out. The charge is related to abuse of office by releasing secret information about two traffickers, Aleksandër Prroni and Klaudio Vukaj.
The German authorities suspect that Shkëmbi debunked the information by notifying Prron and Vukaj through an encrypted "chat" platform that they were being investigated by Germany.
For Prron and Vukaj, Germany had requested the verification of assets in Albania as they were being investigated as members of a criminal organization. But, the young people got this information through the Enchrochat platform, by means of a photo. This information was forwarded just a few moments after Artan Shkëmbi logged into the Deep See data system.
