The recent rainfall has collapsed a 20-meter road segment on the newly reconstructed road in the village of Usoje in Mallakastra , while the asphalt has ended up in the yard of a private home.

The rains highlighted what residents had long feared, a lack of standards and basic technical elements, such as the failure to build retaining walls to protect against erosion and the lack of lateral drainage channels.

The asphalt landslide occurred around 11:00 yesterday, endangering the Kamaj family's home .

The road is currently impassable while authorities say they are working to clear debris from the apartment's yard.

The residents of Usoja do not hide their disappointment about the collapsed road, which according to them poses a risk to other segments as well.

The 1.5 kilometer road segment is part of the project for the reconstruction of roads in the villages of Belistan, Usojë and Drenove e Re , the works of which were carried out by the company "Llazo sh.pk" , declared the winner by the Municipality of Mallakastër.
